A much needed break…

On Tuesday we slept in and went to the canteen for lunch and then grabbed desserts and went to the park by campus to sit. We relaxed for a few hours before heading back to our dorm to get ready for classes. My language class was more presentations on different countries and learning about some grocery options here in Debrecen. We have our final exam in May, and right now I am sitting at passing the class very easily!

On Wednesday, I went to my literature class in the morning and grabbed coffee from the cafe on campus afterwards. Since I was not hungry for lunch, I grabbed some snacks at the store here on campus and came back to my dorm to work on some homework. I stopped by the desk to see if I had any mail and had a card from Aunt Lisa! It was my first piece of mail I have gotten since being here and I was ecstatic (mom sent one a month ago but I have had yet to receive it). It was another slow day here on campus, but a thunderstorm rolled in later in the afternoon. I think I am actually experiencing a spring that doesn’t have all four seasons in one day, and I am loving it. It has been in the 70s every day for the last week, and I have got quite the tan started! I took some time to do some journaling and cleaning in the room before calling it a night.

On Thursday, we were woken up by weedwackers at 6 am (which was way to early in our opinion). I rolled over and got a few more hours of sleep before waking up to grab lunch. I came back to the dorm to do some laundry and then walked over to the park for about an hour. A little rain shower decided to come along and I retreated back to the dorm for the afternoon. I went to my Hungarian class, where we are learning about foods and practicing what to say at the grocery store. After class, Flora and I were both craving burgers, so we tried out a new burger place in town that was relatively cheap. I would say it is one of the better burgers I have had here in Europe, and I have convinced Flora that she really has to come visit the US for a good home-grown burger!

On Friday, Flora and I went over to the canteen for lunch. The campus was pretty quiet, so we decided to head down to the center with Charlotte and Adeline. We grabbed coffees at an international coffee house and cinnamon rolls from the Italian bakery next door. We visited for about 5 hours before heading back to campus to make our dinners. After dinner, Flora and I walked around the campus before calling it a night.

On Saturday, I was wide awake at 8 am, but Flora did not get up and going until noon. In the meantime, I walked to the cafe right next to the dorm and grabbed a cappuccino. When I got back from my little coffee break, Flora needed to study so I decided to go grab some groceries. I visited with mom and dad while I was shopping, and on my way back to the dorm. I decided to spend the rest of my afternoon reading off my list for literature class. I met Flora down at the city center for dinner and we tried a more budget friendly Italian place. The wind picked up and before long we decided it was best to get back to the dorm before it decided to storm. I visited with Grandma and Lisa before calling it a night.

On Sunday, I woke up to a bunch of photos from Jordan’s prom! I was also awake way to early compared to when Flora started moving. I finished my book and cleaned up to take on the day. I finished writing this weeks blog post - which went by rather quickly since I did not have too much going on. We are planning on a picnic with the French girls this afternoon to encourage a good study break for everyone. This week we have some activities happening on campus that I will be excited to share!

See you next week!
